Cleo the Project Space is pleased to present ‘Survey to a Sweet Reminder’ with work by Alex Adkinson and Camille Wong. This exhibition is the result of research done by both artists in Savannah, GA during the month of May 2025.
Alex Adkinson’s work is situated around the exploration of the post industrial landscape, reliant upon connections between the body, the city and the Earth. The US Sugar Savannah Refinery informs the research and investigation of these new sculptures. A monolith in its footprint throughout America’s industry, the refinery gained infamy in 2008 with a dust explosion and fire that killed 12 people and injured a dozen more. Nestled within the impact of that event and the refinery’s immense impression are both actions that can and cannot be codified, monetized, or clarified, Adkison erects the sculptures as a memento to achieving that impossible full testimony attached to its image.
